Under the leadership of Brima Baluwa Koroma, the National Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NPRA) has moved to reassure citizens that every drop of fuel they buy will be exactly what they pay for.

In a firm public statement, the NPRA declared its commitment to ensuring cheating-free operations at every fuel pump across Sierra Leone. The announcement comes amid growing public concern over pump calibration, under-dispensing, and the manipulation of meters by some unscrupulous dealers.

Koroma emphasized that protecting consumers is at the heart of NPRA’s mandate. “The era of short measures and silent theft at the pump is over,” he said. “We owe it to every driver, every business, and every household to guarantee fairness at the point of sale.”

To back the promise, NPRA teams have intensified nationwide inspections, seal verifications, and spot checks on stations.n’t The Authority warned that any dealer found tampering with pumps or shortchanging customers will face stiff penalties, including suspension of operating licenses.

Citizens have welcomed the move, saying fuel is already expensive enough without losing more to dishonest practices. Market women, commercial drivers, and transport unions say a cheating-free system will restore public trust and bring much-needed relief to their pockets.

The NPRA further urged the public to report suspicious pump activity through its official channels, noting that vigilance and enforcement must go hand in hand.

With Brima Baluwa Koroma at the helm, the message from NPRA is clear: from Freetown to the provinces, every pump will be watched, every liter will be measured, and every citizen will get what they paid for.
