“A NEW CHAPTER BEGINS: U.S. EMBASSY WELCOMES MEGHAN MOORE TO FREETOWN”
The United States Embassy in Freetown has officially welcomed Meghan Moore as its new Chargé d’Affaires, ushering in a new chapter in U.S.-Sierra Leone diplomatic relations.
Moore arrives in Sierra Leone with a wealth of experience across Africa and beyond. Before her appointment to Freetown, she served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo. Her diplomatic career spans key postings in Liberia, Nigeria, Hungary, Pakistan, Colombia, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, alongside senior assignments in Washington, D.C.
Her broad background in governance, security, and development makes her arrival significant at a time when the U.S. and Sierra Leone are deepening cooperation on democracy, trade, health, and youth opportunity.
In a welcoming message, the Embassy said Chargé Moore looks forward to meeting the people of Sierra Leone, experiencing the country’s rich culture, and further strengthening the longstanding bilateral partnership between the United States and Sierra Leone.
As she takes up duty, expectations are high that Moore’s leadership will build on decades of friendship and expand collaboration in education, economic growth, and good governance. With her arrival, Washington signals a renewed commitment to working hand-in-hand with Sierra Leoneans to advance shared values and prosperity.
