HEAVY RAIN TURNS DEADLY IN GODERICH AS FAMILY OF THREE PERISHES

A family of three has reportedly lost their lives after a fence collapsed on their residence at Goderich Metchkem, Kailahun Court Barry, in the early hours of Monday following heavy overnight rainfall.

Reports indicate that the intense and prolonged downpour may have weakened the structure before it suddenly gave way, trapping the victims inside their home. The collapse reportedly happened so quickly that the family had little or no opportunity to escape.

The heartbreaking incident has sent shockwaves through the Goderich community, with residents expressing concern over the safety of homes, fences and other structures during periods of heavy rainfall.

The tragedy has also renewed calls for property owners and relevant authorities to pay greater attention to structural safety, drainage and flood-prone areas as Sierra Leone continues to experience heavy rains.

As the community mourns the loss of three lives, the incident stands as a grim reminder of how quickly extreme weather can turn an ordinary night into a devastating tragedy.
